Whale Watching on the Strait
Some of the best whale water in the Salish Sea is, quite literally, the estate’s front view. Ten minutes down the hill, half-day tours sail from the downtown Port Angeles wharf onto the Strait of Juan de Fuca — and most days, they find what they’re looking for.

Who you’ll meet out there
- Bigg’s orcas — the mammal-hunting transients work the Strait year-round and are the tours’ most frequent stars.
- Humpbacks — back every spring and building through summer; late-season trips catch the breaching and tail-throwing at its showiest.
- Minke whales, porpoises, sea lions, and rafts of seabirds fill out the cast — plus gray whales passing on the spring migration.
How it works
